Information about the ethics process & consent form

The Sense of Belonging exhibition is part of an academic research project, aimed at Staff and Students at the University of Lincoln and our international partners North West University, South Africa, that has been designed to investigate:

  • How can Art & Design* help to foster a sense of belonging?
  • How decolonisation can be used as a way of extending hospitality or revealing hidden/embedded assumptions/stereotypes/prejudice.
  • Place making – what roles/activities/strategies can/do artists and designers use to foster a sense of belonging.
  • Any other notions/issues associated with belonging are also welcomed.

Once we have compiled the work and accompanying statements, we will look for common themes, and how formal design elements and media are being utilised to explore and express belonging. We are seeking your consent so that we can use images of your work in future publications, and extract information from your statements to support our findings, through direct quotation. We are also seeking permission to feature your work and accompanying statement in the exhibition and on this blog.

Consequently, when submitting your work, you will need to fill in an online form and provide your consent for these purposes.

These forms are also available in alternative, word and PDF formats below and should be sent directly to Heather Connelly HConnelly@lincoln.ac.uk using ‘SENSE OF BELONGING SUBMISSION’ in the title of your email.

Please note that you can withdraw your consent at anytime.
